Teacher Education in French is a 4 year programme in an international setting. You will be taught in English and French by our experienced lecturers and get to enjoy Utrecht's vibrant student life. You will have frequent and intensive contact with France, spending time there from your 1st year onwards. Internships at Dutch schools are also a vital and highly educational part of the programme. As these internships will be in a Dutch speaking environment, you will be expected to have a Dutch level CEFR A2 towards the end of your 2nd year. We offer Dutch classes during your first year as well as a Dutch minor in years 2 and 3.

An exciting teaching career

As the teaching population is aging, there are many opportunities for language teachers in Dutch secondary school, in vocational education or at a language school.

Admission requirements

If you want to start with the Teacher Education in French degree programme, you need to have a school diploma at a sufficient level and English proficiency of at least CEFR level B1. You also need to command French at CEFR level B1 (Listening and Reading) and A2 (Speaking and Writing). A language test is part of the admission process. Of course, love for French and teaching is a must!
