Dr. Yael de Haan is applied professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Yael analyses shifts in journalism practice in a changing online media environment.Specifically she has done research on changing media ethics, shifts in media governance, shifts in the relationship media and politics, converging newsrooms and the use of new storytelling techniques such as data visualizations and virtual and augmented reality. She also does research on new educational challenges for j-schools. She has published in several peer-reviewed journals such as Digital Journalism, European Journal of Communication, Journalism and Journal of Media Innovation. In the past years she has been actively involved in the Bachelor journalism education, developing a new curriculum for the school of journalism. Currently, she still plays an advisory role in the bachelor program and teaches media studies courses and research methods. Yael de Haan is member of the Dutch Press Council.
