Simona Karbouniaris has been educated as a Social Worker (specialized in dance & movement) and received her Master’s degree in Social Interventions.
Simona Karbouniaris has been working since 2006 as a researcher for the research group Participation, Care and Support. During her Social Work study she observed professionals who were building bridges between society and people with psychiatric handicaps. At the research centre for social innovation she got involved with several other projects in neighborhoods of Utrecht and Nijmegen.
By the end of 2012, she got her masters degree in Social Intervention. Currently, she is engaged in projects concerning peer support, user oriented themes and participation and empowerment of vulnerable groups in general. She is involved in the ‘Wmo-werkplaats’ and also coaches students in a rehabilitation training (SRH).
In January 2019 Simona starts her PhD research, titled 'De bijdrage van ervaringskennis en -deskundigheid aan herstelgerichte zorg in de ggz.'
