Saskia Wijsbroek is chair of the research group Youth at the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences (HU) and assistant professor at the Research Center Youth & Family, Utrecht University (UU). Her dissertation topic is adolescent generalized anxiety symptoms and problematic interactions in the family. Nowadays she is actively involved in qualitative research on social care and social youth professionals.
Saskia worked as a treatment coordinator in Herlaarhof, a children’s and adolescent psychiatric hospital. She provided family therapy in the inpatient and outpatient clinics. As a project coordinator she held responsibility for the regional project “Adolescents between a Rock and a Hard Place”, a project aimed at prevention, motivational trajectories and treatment of adolescent dropouts who needed psychiatric care. She also was made coordinator to initiate the supra regional clinic providing outpatient psychiatric care to refugee minors.
Currently she is registered as a Health Care Psychologist (GZ-psycholoog). Beyond the walls of the Universities from 2009-2017 she has been serving on the Supervisory Board of Zandbergen, later Youké, an institute offering assistance to children and adolescents and their families.
