Mark van Tilburg wants to improve physiotherapeutic care even more. That’s why he started his career as a researcher. During his work as a physiotherapist, research assistant at the University Medical Centre Utrecht and work for the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht on the Physio Future Lab project, he graduated as a Physiotherapy Scientist. Here after, he directly started as a PhD student on the project: ‘stratified (blended) physiotherapeutic care for patients with neck- and/or shoulder complaints’.
Since June 2018, Mark works as a PhD student for the research centre Innovation in Healthcare. The aim of his research is to improve physiotherapeutic care for patients with neck- and/or shoulder complaints by personalizing the delivery mode and content of the treatment. To achieve personalized care, the physiotherapist will decide whether a patient is suitable for blended care (e-Exercise), or whether a patient is more suitable for an information booklet. Additionally, the content of treatment will be stratified on the risk for persistent complaints. Physiotherapist will be given the tools to decide suitability for blended physiotherapeutic care and risk of persistent complaints.
