Dr. Marjolein Kool (1958) is a research fellow at the Research Group Numeracy since 1 September 2011. Within this Research Group she studies the implementation of the Mathematical Knowledge Base in the curriculum of the teacher education institutes for primary education.

The dissertation deals with the mathematical terminology of the Dutch arithmetic books from the fifteenth and sixteenth century. The title of the dissertation is: ‘Die Conste vanden getale’(= The art of numbers) . Supervisors: Prof. Dr. H.J.M.Bos, University of Utrecht, Prof. Dr. W.P. Gerritsen, University of Utrecht. The book is published by Verloren in Hilversum and selected for the Digital Library of Dutch Literature, www.dbnl.org/basisbibliotheek. This means that the dissertation is one of the thousand key texts of the cultural history of the low countries from the Middle Ages until now.
