Diversity is a container concept, aimed at recognizing and dealing with differences. The Dutch population, particularly in the metropolitan area, is changing in its composition and becoming more diverse. At the moment, ethnic, cultural and religious differences are most prevalent. But not only those citizens who may require social work, but social workers themselves are becoming more diverse. Dealing with diversity and difference is still often considered a difficulty in professional circles. This calls for special attention to be paid toward cultivating an inclusive professional and educational practice.
